The Retiree & Emeriti Parking Program is a joint effort among the UCIRA, UCIEA, CER, and UC Irvine Transportation & Distribution Services to encourage retiree engagement with UC Irvine by offering complimentary parking on UCI’s main campus. With this excellent program, UCI now joins some of our fellow UCs in making it easier for our own emeriti/retirees to visit and participate on campus.

*Beginning July 1, 2026 , those with valid UCInetIDs will automatically be enrolled in the myCommmute online permit reservation system.  An in-person kiosk option will continue to be available for those who do not wish to utilize the myCommute online permit reservation system or those who do not have an active UCInetID.

You must:

• be a retiree and/or emeriti of UC Irvine with a valid UCInetID (ie. UCInetID@uci.edu)
  • UC Irvine Retirees and Emeriti must not be in any paid working status with UC Irvine (including UCI Health) and will be verified prior to program enrollment
  • eligible retirees without UCInetID (expired) can re-activate here: https://activate.uci.edu/retiree
• have a paid membership to either (or both)
• • the UCI Emeriti Association
  • the UCI Retirees Association
  • The annual membership drive occurs between December thru January and new members are slated to be added to the list each month. For those that join after the upload date, you can be added the following month.

Beginning July 1, 2026 as long as you have not returned to any paid working status,

• those with a valid/working UCInetID
  • use myCommute web portal to activate their complimentary parking permit online before coming to campus. 
• eligible members without an active UCInetID or unable to use myCommmute
  • you may obtain your complimentary daily General (C) parking permit at any staffed parking kiosk (https://www.parking.uci.edu/parking/kiosks.cfm) by telling the attendant that you are “On the Guest Permit System.”  You may be asked to show a photo ID (driver’s license is OK). 

The permit will allow you to park in any General (C) parking spot on campus, in any lot. Permits are not valid in AR, P, or X parking spaces.

To be eligible, members:

• may not be on paid “recall” status or be engaged in any other form of paid UC Irvine employment. (This includes grants administered through the campus).
• must be a retiree/emeriti of UC Irvine (UCInetID validation required)
• must be a member of the UCIRA and/or UCIEA
  • Non-UCI Retiree Memberships of either UCIRA and UCIEA are unfortunately not eligible for the Retiree & Emeriti Parking Program.
• limited to one permit per day.
